Hi there! My name is Arielle. If I had to describe myself to a stranger I’d have to remind them of Shrek the Ogre – lots of layers. I believe in hard truths and brutal honesty. I appreciate a well utilized curse word, and I’d rather spend time with myself and pets than a group of Chatty McChattersons.
Over the last several years, I’ve been watching, reading, listening, everything when it came to Homesteading and self-sufficiency. It started as an interest, moved on to a desire, made its way into an obsession, and now it’s forming into a reality of our family.
One issue I was frequently running into when looking for information, was that everyone seemed to be years into the lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong! I could watch YouTube videos for days on end where people discuss everything they’re doing, but I really wanted to see someone go through all the trials these people had already experienced. I wanted to see the barn go from an idea to a reality, or the flock of chickens grow from 5 to 30, and maybe even see the first ungodly encounter with a giant tomato horn worm! And that’s where this site was born!
Look, I’m far from an experienced and self-sufficient gal. But I can do this! I grew up in horse barns. I’m no stranger to hard work and dirt. My husband – a hands on worker type. I mean, come on, as soon as we bought our land he ran out and bought a 1950 tractor! The kids… well… they’ll figure it out. We’ve got a mix of excitement and detest for bugs going on.
There’s no denying this will be a trial and error, up and down, laughs and tears kind of experience. And I’d like to share our family’s journey with you as we make the move from suburban life to modern homesteading!
I’m excited to have you along!
