Man. We’ve had a ridiculously busy few weeks. Both older girls started at their respective schools in different weeks – hello, nightmare! We also had competition dance tryouts this past week which completely takes over the house. But it’s over now. Back to normalcy.
I like my work clothes to be durable, feminine, and comfortable. If I can find something with that combo, I’m all over it. I’m slowly building my farm gear wardrobe, one piece at a time.
The past few times we’ve been out to work on the property I’ve worn Carhartt Utility Leggings. I loved the look of them when I was trying to find work pants. The reviews seemed overly positive and I really like the Carhartt brand. It’s never failed me. My husband has had his Carhartt bibs for at least 12 years and they’re still in great condition.
Amazon had the leggings for the same price and they were eligible for Prime 2 day shipping, so HEEEEEEYYYYY. Ordered.
My mom also bought me the pair of steel toe boots I wanted as a congratulations on buying our property. I had planned on purchasing the Caterpillar steel toe boots in the Grey color. It was hard for me not to choose purple, but I just loved the grey. Most of the reviews were positive but mentioned that the boots get dirty quickly. Well, yeah. They’re light grey! I don’t care about dirty work boots, so, ORDERED! I liked that they went up my left and had a tight “seal” over lower and more loose-fitting boot. I can put pants over the boot or tuck boot cut pants into the shoe.
I’ve worn both together about 4x and absolutely love both of them. The boots are comfortable. I can feel the squish in the padding under my foot. It’s not super thick. I think the boots would be a lot more cozy if I put in a thicker gel pad. The pants are divine, though. They’re super comfortable. The material is thick enough to stop from getting poked by shrubs, but not so think that you’re miserably hot or stiff. I had to wade through a few blackberry bushes to get to the back few berries. Some of the branches and thorns caught on my pants. I didn’t feel a thing like I would have through jeans, the pants didn’t rip or cut at all, and the thorns were easily brushed off. The only downside of the pants is that they only come in black. Black is my go to color, but I’d love a few more options – dark and light grey, blue, Carhartt tan, etc. I’ll be purchasing more pairs to make sure I always have a clean pair ready.
If you’re looking for a durable, feminine, and comfortable pair of work pants – the Carhartt Utility Leggings are for you.
As far as boots, every homesteader needs a good pair of steel toe work boots to keep their tootsies safe during farm work. So far the Caterpillar steel toes have been great. If they last a decent amount of time I’d definitely continue to purchase them.
Try out the gear and let me know what you think!
